Q: What is the difference between 24, karat, 22 karat, 18 karat, 14 karat, and 10 karat gold? Back to Questions

A:

  • 24 karat gold= 99.99% pure gold
  • 22 karat gold= 92.5% pure gold
  • 18 karat gold= 75.0% pure gold
  • 14 karat gold= 58.3% pure gold

A: They are the metric measurement for weight and purity, respectively.   “Carats” refers to stone measurements and “Karats” refer to Gold measurements.

For example:

5 carats = 1 gram

Q: What is the lowest karat available in the United States? Back to Questions

A: No. Gold is an element and its quality does not vary. Also, stamped 14 karat gold is always 58.3% gold no matter where it is being sold.
